"I'm not upset. Dad's a dick," Luke said bluntly as his mother let him go. "Why would I want to live with him anyway? I guess the privacy thing is good, but as long as you promise to stop breaking into my room all the time I think it'll all work out, right?" He patted his mother's shoulder and then returned to the wall he'd begun painting and picked up his roller again to continue the task.
"Seriously Mom, this is good news. Really good. And the sooner he gets out, the better, as far as I'm concerned." His dad had his good points occasionally , but Luke was more than ready to be done with him. Of course, it was probably too much to ask that he'd be moving off the island or anything so he'd probably still have to deal with him, but at this point, not living in the same house as his father seemed like a pretty good deal to Luke.
