Cait leaned forward in her seat and took the knife from her sister. She wasn't really looking forward to the self mutilation she was about to take part in. But for scientific purposes, it had to be done. And quickly before she chickened out.
"Okay. Here goes," she said, gripping the handle tightly. With one smooth motion, she ran the sharp blade over the skin on her middle finger. She winced slightly, and pulled it away, watching as the blood dripped towards her palm. "Now what?"
