Mari listened to Brendan with great interest. She knew she would never cut it as a bartender even if she wanted to, but Brendan was clearly very into it. And Mari loved hearing about other people. "I just don't think I could memorize all those drinks. I can hardly remember all 50 states, though I'd appreciate it if you didn't tell anyone that. It's kind of embarrassing when you aren't sure whether Manitoba is a U.S. state or not." She smirked. It was mostly a joke. She knew Manitoba wasn't a U.S. state, though she wasn't about to spew off the names of all the states right now.
"I do," she said with a nod. "I don't even care that I don't get paid. And if in the future I didn't need money to live, I'd do it for free. Obviously, it helps if you get a pay check every once in a while." She shrugged. Talking about teaching made her think about her dad and how he had always believed she would be a good teacher or just good at whatever she decided to do. She snapped herself out of it though, not wanting to turn this into a sappy situation. "So when do you get off tonight?"
