Mao was right of course: acting and actually being nice were two totally different things, but Wolf didn't know which one Felix was. Mao seemed to think Felix was acting only, and Wolf didn't think it seemed like such a far-off assessment. After all, Luke was his best friend. Of course, he didn't share his logic with Mao, because he didn't want to start debating Luke again. The confession was over; Mao hadn't fainted in fear or stormed out of the house angry. It was all good.
The faces Mao made in response to his question made him want to laugh, but the answer actually did make him laugh. Having two moms was awesome, and Wolf could only imagine he wouldn't get along with a dad if he had one. The extremely outdated saying that a child should grow up with a mother and a father was total bullshit and he knew it. He and his brother had turned out amazingly.
"That's true," Wolf said, laughing still at the thought of Mao sounding like a total flaming queen. Wolf had no idea how it would sound, he couldn't know, but the mental image was funny anyway. "It's cute you think we'd be having sex," he teased, but who was he kidding? Of course they'd be having sex.
That Mao actually went on to answer in a way that seemed semi-genuine surprised Wolf, but all he did was pat Mao on the shoulder. "Things will work themselves out, won't they? You two won't be idiot high school kids forever."
