Wolf had been lying on his bed, half-watching TV when his phone buzzed in his pocket. Seeing the message was from Mao, Wolf pushed himself up and turned the TV off upon passing it. On his way down the stairs, he prepared himself mentally for dropping the bomb on Mao that he'd told Lulu that Mao and Luke had been getting busy, and that he knew for a fact Lulu had reported it straight to Lily Fox. He wasn't all that worried about admitting it to Mao, but he was aware he might have just done something to complicate an already complicated thing between Luke and Mao.
When he reached the door, he glanced up at the light fixture that flashed every time someone rang the bell, but it was dark. Mao was always good about texting him when he came over, which some might think an obvious thing to do, but Wolf had stopped being surprised by how many people forgot he was deaf when it came to simple things like that.
"I'm the wolf by default, 'lil' piggie'," Wolf said in greeting after opening the door, and offered a smile to his visitor. "How was school, dearest?" As he wasn't dressed for the cold, Wolf stood aside for Mao to come in and quickly closed the door behind him. Then he waited for Mao's coat to come off, so he could put it in the closet.
