She did get to come home. If he'd picked something else to demand, she might have been at the office all night and had to drag herself home in the morning. That would have been hell to deal with. Lulu's foot against her leg was a nice distraction, though, and she could feel the anger starting to subside.
Kenzie chuckled a little. Schoolmarm was sort of an amusing thing. More amusing if she tried to imagine herself as one. It was a little too bizarre a thought to dwell on, but Lulu quickly provided an alternative.
"Mao has a crush on Luke?" That was...sort of surprising. Luke was a cute boy, yes, but she wouldn't have expected someone like Mao to be interested in him. She finished her scotch and nodded. "I think most people would a little in shock if they found out Mao or someone with similar tastes like their child. Unless, you know, they had a child like Mao, in which case they'd probably not be surprised."
