Jacen's brain, though half asleep, was silently screaming at Nathan not to move him. If he had anything wrong with his spine, it could prove fatal if Nathan moved him the wrong way. Unlike Nathan who did not know Jacen, Jacen did know of Nathan. They were in the same grade, had been for years now, and it was one of Jacen's favorite pastimes to sit around and page through the yearbook. Of course, he couldn't get rid of any of the memories of those pages now.
And though his memory seemed to be working just as fine as always, he was having trouble responding to whatever it was that Nathan was asking of him. He tried to squint up at Nathan, though that was proving to be quite painful for his head. "Buh?" Not his most graceful moment but either Stanley had severely knocked something out of whack in his head or he was just going deaf somehow.
