Mari's slight discomfort about the situation was slowly fading away. As she took in Rory's features, she began to grow less tense about the situation and felt at least a little more relaxed. This was Rory. He was her friend. There was nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, it was probably a good idea to show him what else she could do, and then maybe he would think it exciting.
Mari smiled and tucked back some of her hair shyly. "It's hard to keep track of to be honest. Sometimes I think I can use an ability, but when I try, it doesn't work. I don't know what's controlling which abilities I keep and which I discard. It just happens. Ever since high school." She had the funniest urge to reach out to him too, to put him at ease as he did to her. How had he done that anyway? It felt so natural.
