In all honesty, Rory was the last person to be judgmental about this kind of thing. Or, really, anything, at least insofar as personal disabilities were concerned. Not that whatever was going on with Eisen was necessarily a disability - if anything it was kind of the opposite, a huge supplement to the human condition. And he suspected that the same thing (or at least something very similar) was going on with Mari. Sure, it freaked him out a little, but it wasn't because there was something wrong with her; it was just that there was something strange going on and Rory wanted very much to get to the bottom of it.
He returned Mari's smile with a bright one of his own and hugged her carefully, trying to pretend that it wasn't as awkward as it inevitably was. Hugs had always been a rather difficult thing for Rory, whether he was in or out of his chair, but he still appreciated the gesture nevertheless. "Oh it was great. We had that whole Christmas tradition of zooming around the house hyped up on sugar," by which, of course, Rory meant that he watched his hyped-up brothers zoom around the house, "and on New Years we broke out the sparkling cider and watched the ball drop. It was a fun season. And from the looks of your Christmas party, you had a pretty great holiday season yourself!"
