It wasn't stealing if it was her's to begin with. That was what Fiona Bailey was telling herself as she crouched before the door of Seth's office. She was using bobby pins to try and open the cheap lock of the door, her tongue stuck between her teeth. She was still in her ballet costume, the gauzy fabric not really keeping her very warm right then. At least she had long sleeves she supposed. Fiona needed that journal, if anything to avoid the total humiliation of having to get it from Seth himself. She wasn't sure she could live that down. She heard a click of victory, and a moment later she was within his classroom. But where would he keep it? That was the real question.
The small woman began to look through drawers and shelves carefully, trying to put everything back where it belonged. Her ballet slippers made little sound on the floor, but her paranoia about being caught was high. She hadn't even turned the lights on, instead just carefully using her cellphone as a flashlight.
And finally, finally she was sure that she'd found it. Fiona got onto her knees before a locked drawer, eyeing this lock much harder. She began to poke it with her pin, but this didn't seem nearly that simple. She shook the handle a bit, but the thing stayed firmly shut. But Fiona was frustrated enough that day not to take not for an answer, and so she kept at it, never noticing that she'd left the classroom door open.
