Girl talks weren’t exactly Mal’s forte. Not even close, really. The fact that she was even here spoke volumes to exactly how annoyed she was. She’d mostly kept it quiet when she’d been at work; professionalism took control and rage sort of faded into the background. But it hadn’t been totally hidden.
When Nat pointed out that she was pretty much destroying the cocoa container, Mal chuckled once, briefly. “Oops,” she shook her head, handing it over to Nat and allowing the tiniest of smirks to show through. “Poor thing didn’t even know what hit it.”
She realized, of course, that this would probably be uncomfortable for Nat. The girl was friends with Lexie, a fact that Mal didn’t hold against her. She was friends with a lot of people who were friends with the other blond. Leti, of course, was one. She didn’t intend to drag Nat into the middle, not even close. She just wanted to eat ice cream and cookies and drink hot cocoa, do something girly for once. Both to prove to herself that she could and because she, maybe, kind of, really needed it.
“Thanks for this, by the way. I know it’s probably gonna be weird for you, being friends with Lexie and all, but I appreciate it.”
