"And you actively use your power all the time whether you want to or not," Luke returned. Honestly, he had to wonder about his own power sometimes. What if, at some point in the future, he lost the ability to turn the forcefields off? It was becoming easier and easier to put them up, after all, and as much as he liked them, it would be annoying if he could never take them down. Still, that was a worry for another day. Right now, he had presents to attend to.
He was utterly unsurprised that Mao had gotten him something Star Wars themed. It was kind of nice when half the island knew the stuff that you liked. "Awesome," Luke said, playing with the keychains a little. "I needed something cool to put on my keys anyway. And the Pez can go next the helmet you gave me." He really did have it in his room. "And now for yours."
Luke handed Mao a wrapped, flat gift about the size of a small canvas. It had been a little while since he'd put his painting skills to the test, but he'd actually been kind of pleased with the results of his picture. The canvas featured a beach-going Mao in a ridiculous hat and pink sunglasses, his body swiveled in a the classic Coppertone baby pose and a hint of shiny platinum gleamed from the exposed skin of his upper buttocks. The words "Double Platinum Ass" were written in fancy calligraphy across the sand at the bottom of the painting, and Luke still couldn't help but smirk at his clever play on words.
