Luke laughed lightly as Mao tried to accost him and was thwarted every time. It was kind of nice to know he had the upper hand, at least in these kinds of situations. He was smart enough not to take down his shields right away, though. Besides, at this point, it was easy to surround himself by a low-level field. He could maintain it without even really thinking about it.
He looked over at Mao in amusement and prepared his rebuttal. "Are you kidding me? If there's anyone cheating it's you. I have to activate my power to use it, but you're using yours all the time. You ever think of that, jackass? You live your power. I just use mine." Luke actually had to try to keep the jealousy from his voice as he spoke. He loved his power, of course, and he wouldn't trade it for anything (except maybe the full Jedi package, mind tricks included), but sometimes he was a little jealous of the ease with which Mao could do things. It was impressive. Plus, he got to just show off with his power and people thought it was normal. Luke couldn't show off with his if he wanted to, at least without other people knowing that there was something going on.
"And fine. If you're not going to give me my Christmas present, I'll just go home and burn yours." He ignored the werewolf comment. At this point, he kind of wanted to keep the topic on presents, since his was curious what his might be.
