"That's the whole theory, right? And if that facility had anything to do with it, it's a big-ass conspiracy, too. I saw government logos and shit." This was fucking serious. It was ridiculous that they hadn't really talked about this before, at least not in any detail. Still, it did kind of make sense. As important as this stuff was to figure out, Luke and Mao did have a pretty crazy history, and in Luke's experience, crazy history usually trumped super-important conspiracy theorizing.
Luke was quiet as Mao mentioned Mari. Of course. Duh. Mari definitely had a power. And so, for that matter, did her sister. "Yeah okay. I just thought of one. College kids are definitely involved in the whole powers thing too. And yeah, I agree. I dunno about my dad, but I'm pretty sure I'd know if my mom had a power, too. I would accuse her of telepathy, but I'm pretty sure the only person's mind she can read is mine. Still, we'll have to keep an eye on the adults just to be safe, alright?"
Luke began to make notes at Mao rattled off his list, dutifully recording powers, but not names or genders. "Someone can do stuff with metal too," Luke added, noting Sasha's power on the list. "Like... act as a human magnet or whatever. And then someone else can absorb other people's powers, I think. I don't think they're as strong as the original person's power though. And that's it. That's all I know so far."
Luke was about to open up speculation onto other people's powers but he was distracted by Mao's werewolf comment. He rolled his eyes. "A werewolf? Seriously? What, are we in one of those weird vampire chicklit novels from like, 2010? Dusk or Sunrise or whatever. No. Weird shit has been going on, but there's no such thing as werewolves."
