Mao led the way through the hall and ushered Luke into his room, shutting the door behind them as he spoke. "I shouldn't have to ask. You should just pull up to my house one day and be like, 'Get on.' Because why wouldn't you want to give me rides and maybe even let me go for a tiny little spin by myself because you know with my skills your bike would be in capable hands?" Okay, Mao knew he was pushing it with the whole driving the motorcycle on his own thing, but his grin showed that he was just being a pain in the ass on purpose.
Once in the room he bounced over to his bed and flopped on. He grabbed a remote and powered on the television, turning the sound up. "Noise filter." Was his explanation as he left it on some cartoons. He doubted that Tetsuo would listen in on any of his conversations, but it couldn't hurt to err on the side of caution.
"I can't tell you, sorry, I wasn't supposed to be told about it to begin with, and I like the person involved so I don't want to like, out them behind their backs and all that shit." He was taking a pretty big risk even telling Lukas what he knew without the names, James could always stumble upon this scene if he touched something in his room. It sure was a pain when your best friend could see the past.
"But, allegedly, this person can turn one kind of liquid into another kind. Like...water into booze, for example." Mao shook his head in wonder, and maybe a smidge of jealousy.
