The phone call had at least clarified that they were friends. Somehow he'd succeeded in making two cheerleaders think he was worth hanging out with, and he guessed he couldn't feel bad about that.
"I appreciate it," he assured Glory.
He appreciated even more that Glory seemed genuinely eager to spend time with him, especially because it was established they would be watching a series about the natural history of the world's oceans. If Glory was really interested in that kind of thing he was pretty sure he could love her.
"Cool." It was his voice's turn to clearly convey the smile on his face. "Any day this week is okay, I'm not doing much. I don't even really do anything for New Year's Eve, but I'm sure you do. You probably won't want to come over then - and I'm not asking you to. I was just saying."
Gio smacked himself in the forehead for being so awkward. Stay cool, he thought, stay as close to cool as you can.
