Generally speaking, Eisen wasn’t an optimistic person. Over the past couple weeks, he’d had a couple of good things happen to him. He’d gotten one of the lead roles in the town play and apparently gotten Lexie’s affections. He knew all along that his comeuppance would come. He just hadn’t expected that it’d come in the form of Rory. Usually, Rory was the one to help him out when things like this happened. It was sort of weird to think that he was the one making it happen.
It’ll be okay. Eventually.
When Lexie spoke further of impulse control, Eisen chuckled softly. “I guess that’s true,” he said, wishing that he didn’t have to let her go. Having her in his arms felt comfortable, felt right. He smoothed his fingers through the ends of her hair and sighed softly. If he ever wanted things to be right between he and Rory again, he had to stop himself.
“Let’s just get you home before either of our impulse control fails again, hm?” he asked, pulling back from the hug, all except for one arm, that stayed around Lexie’s shoulders and kept her close.
