Eisen half-smiled and shrugged. “Well, that’s just gonna make me work harder to pick something special for you.” He gave her a sweet, loving smile and then reminded himself to keep it in check until…well, for an indeterminate amount of time, really. I hate this. His smile faded a little.
He gave a bit of a smile when she told him that he wasn’t the only one and he chuckled softly. “You know, I always sorta had my suspicions, but I didn’t say anything. I sort of dug into the reasoning behind it but always got caught when I got close so I gave up,” he explained. “I figured, if I was meant to find out, it would happen.” That and he really didn’t have the energy to fight with his parents about it anymore. He smiled lopsidedly, however, when she asked what the last bit meant. “Um…” he chuckled softly. “I’ll tell you someday, how about that?” His grin was reassuring, telling her wordlessly that it was nothing bad. “It’s a good thing. I promise.”
She reassured him that everything would be okay, and he shrugged. “I hope so. We’ve never fought before, and it doesn’t feel right.”
