Eisen laughed and shrugged. “I’ll make it fun. Something completely original,” he promised, smiling a little as he looked down at the snow at his feet, already cataloguing ideas in his head for things they could do. Just shopping was fun, but they were probably both kind of broke after the holidays, so maybe that wasn’t such a good idea.
She seemed floored by his ability and he laughed a little bit. “Yeah. It was weird, because I was watching this movie one day, it was in Cantonese, and I understood it…” he laughed a little more and shook his head, smoothing a hand through his hair. She asked him to say something to her in Gaelic and he nodded, thinking of the right thing to say. He started out by telling her that she was amazing, and that he couldn’t wait until they could be together. He finished off by saying, “Táim i ngrá leat,*” which if she asked, he would just translate wrong.
“Basically, I just told you how amazing you are and how much I can’t wait until we’re together…” he chuckled, looking at the ground. “The only one who knows about it is Rory.”
And with that, he’d successfully made himself miserable again.
