Lexie was standing close enough to Eisen that she would've been able to hear the phone ring, but when she didn't her heart, too, took a plunge. Had Rory ever ignored one of Eisen's calls before? She didn't know, but the two had been best friends for as long as she'd known then, so she assumed by Eisen's reaction that this was a definite first.
"Oh... Eisen..." she pulled him close, rocking him a little as she held him in a tight hug, almost exactly the way she had so many times before when he'd come to her after yet another breakup with Cait. The strange thing was, seeing him like this almost broke her heart more. Even knowing what she knew now - that he liked her, that he'd even liked her way back then - the fact that she still couldn't comfort him just twisted the proverbial knife in deeper.
"You were honest with your best friend," Lexie told him softly, whispering into his ear. "That's admirable. That's rare. It's... it's one of the many reasons why I..." she stopped herself, backtracking a little. "Why I've always wanted to be with you." She reached her still-ungloved hand up to stroke his hair. "Rory will see that. I'm sure he will. He can't stay mad at you."
Slowly, reluctantly, Lexie pulled herself away after a few more moments and slipped her glove back on. "But until he comes around we can... we can be how we were. Okay? And yes. I would love it if you would walk me home."
