Lexie bit her lip. She would've been angry at Rory, but she understood the sibling bond too well to fail to understand what must've been going on in his head. She assumed that, in Rory's mind, Eisen had willfully taken her away from Ed, and that was something that even a best friend couldn't forgive too easily. This really wasn't Rory's decision, but if Rory's opinion was important to Eisen, than it was going to have to be just as important to her, too.
"Maybe you could call him?" she suggested. "Texts are really impersonal. You should know what he's thinking." Her heart fluttered at the mention of "an us," but she forced down her feelings and looked into his eyes, fighting every impulse in her body that told her to kiss him again. "But... if he is mad..." she averted her eyes for a moment, needing a few seconds to will herself to say the words. "We can... wait. Until Rory is okay with it. He's your best friend. You shouldn't lose him over... this. Me." It was hard to miss the pain on Lexie's face as she spoke the words, as much as she tried to cover it. But she had to. For Eisen's sake.
