Lexie had gotten a lot of reactions when she revealed her power to people, from being excited (as Alfie had) to freaking the hell out (as David had). There were still a lot of people who didn’t know, but by now she was pretty sure she’d know what to expect, depending on whether the person she was talking to had a power of their own or not. But of all the reactions she’d been expecting, Eisen managed to give her the one that she’d expected the least.
To be perfectly honest, Lexie had dreamed of kissing Eisen since she was seventeen. Of course, she’d also been doing her very best to smother that particular impulse since then, considering that he’d always loved Cait and really, no matter how many breakups they’d been through, Lexie’s ever-idealistic view of love decreed that they’d always get back together in the end. Of course, Lexie was older and wiser now. She’d been in an almost-relationship of her own and on some level she finally realized that your first love didn’t always have to be your only one. But even so... she’d never expected Eisen to like her that way, let alone to kiss her. Things had been platonic between them for so long that she’d managed to smother all hope. … Okay, almost all hope. Those cheek-kisses had definitely made her wonder. But now that it was really happening...
Fortunately, the rest of Lexie’s body was faster than her brain. While her thoughts were still working themselves out, the rest of her relaxed and allowed her lips to welcome his. Unfortunately, the kiss couldn’t last forever, and she slowly drew away, her eyes gazing up at him under snow-flecked lashes. “Eisen...” she breathed. What could she say? As good as it had felt kissing him, she just gone on a date with Ed! Her stomach churned a little. Maybe the rest of the island was right. Maybe she really was a whore or something.
