Playing in the snow was fun. More fun that she had ever remembered, really, and she was playing with someone her own age. She’d thought that she would one day grow out of snowball fights and forts, but apparently Eisen (and the presence of snow) had enough influence on her to revert a little. And honestly, that was a good thing. Or... it was until she accidentally hit him in the face.
“Eisen!” Lexie hurried over at once, hot regret welling in her chest. It had been an accident, of course, but Lexie found it particularly hard to forgive herself when she hurt her friends. Fortunately, she now had the solace of being able to fix it. Eisen’s cut wasn’t really bad, but she trembled a little at the sight of the blood. Even despite his laughter, she hated that she’d hurt him, hated it so much that she didn’t even stop to ponder the consequences of showing him what she could do. Just as almost every other time someone had found out, she’d decided (as she always did) that she cared about the person in question too much to let them suffer. Maybe she’d regret it later, but she doubted that she would, especially with Eisen. As always, she feared the reaction that she’d get from him, but she’d deal with it later. Eisen would understand. Even if she thought she was a weird freakazoid, he’d at least be nice about it.
“Here,” she said gently, pulling the glove from her hand. “Hold still. I can fix it.” Drawing closer to him, Lexie reached up to touch Eisen’s face, her fingers brushing lightly over the spot from which the blood sprang. Energy warmed Lexie’s cold fingers, numbing them for a moment as she watched his skin knit back together. The process was becoming a lot faster than it had been before, and it was only a few seconds before Lexie drew her hand away.
