Truth be told, Eisen didn’t think much of the kiss on the cheek. Well, okay, that was a lie. He thought a lot of it, even if it was the furthest he thought he’d ever get with her. Maybe it was wrong of him to assume that it was okay, but they’d been friends for so long; he’d liked her for so long, that it seemed the only appropriate course of action to thank her for a gift so sweet and thoughtful...regardless of how silly and cute it was. Her expression, however, said more than words possibly could. Could it be that Rory was right? Could it be that his incessant refusal to admit that there was anything between them had really hurt his chances? He didn’t know that he wanted to think of that too much more.
Eisen smiled, smoothing a hand through his hair, grabbing a piece of chocolate from the box and unwrapping it. He watched her with hopeful eyes as she pulled the wrapping paper off the box and opened it, and when she made that squeaking noise he wasn’t sure he’d ever felt so proud to have done something right in his life. She liked them. He’d done well. He was surprised, however, when he put them on immediately.
“I’m glad you like them,” he said with a warm smile. The thoughts he’d had earlier were still buzzing about in his head, however, and he chewed on his lip, raising his head to look at her again. “So, are you up for a walk?” He shrugged a shoulder. “I’m thinking that we need some cherry cheesecake and it’s not a very long walk to the cafe,” he nodded toward the door.
