“Hm. ‘Dr. Lexie.’ I kind of like that,” she said, smiling coyly. “Sickness and pain would flee before me!” Of course, they kind of already did, just not because of her medical prowess. Had she not been a senior this year, Lexie might have seriously considered changing her major to nursing, but it was probably just as well that she stuck with music. After all, she’d never been very good at biology, and her healing powers were far more intuitive than they were logical. It would be hard to explain why someone just miraculously got better, even if she did know all the fancy medical terminology.
She looked up at him a little curiously when she’d swallowed the pasta, her head tilted to the side a little. “What’s up?” she asked, her tone light and expressing only the slightest hint of concern. Nothing really looked... wrong with Eisen, there was just a... look in his eye. Something different. If Lexie hadn’t known better, she might’ve said it was... but no. It was probably just a trick of the light.
Scampering back over to her seat, Lexie listened to his explanation with interest. “I can’t decide whether that’s altruistic of you and you’re being a good friend or if it’s selfish because you’re depriving the world of your talents. But I think I’m going to go with altruistic.”
