When she commented on the aroma of dinner, Eisen chuckled a little bit. “Thank you. You did say pasta, right? Because I’m working on one of those top secret recipe pasta dishes and it’s going to knock your socks off,” he offered, turning his head toward the kitchen and beckoning for Lexie to follow behind him. It didn’t escape his attention how, even in something she thought of as casual, it was near impossible for Eisen to tear his eyes from her. That, he figured, was just a talent that Lexie had. Getting his attention no matter what important task he may have been performing. He walked over to the stove and stirred the pasta-and-sauce mixture as it bubbled, then turned around to look at Lexie.
“You can set the kitchen table for me, if you want.” Usually, Eisen’s kitchen table didn’t get much use. When his mom came over, yeah, he used it then. But even those visits were fewer and farther between. A few times, he’d pondered ridding himself of the thing entirely, but then something like this would come along and prove to him how bad of an idea that actually was. “You know where the silverware is, right?”
Lexie probably knew her way around Eisen’s apartment just as well as he did. Probably just as well as Rory did. He reached into the spice cabinet and pulled out a couple of things to quickly spice up the pasta sauce and grabbed them each a can of soda to drink with dinner. Cream soda for her - he’d picked it up earlier just for Lexie - and Dr. Pepper for him. “Cream soda, right Lex?”
