Who: Penny and Open!
What: Chillin'. Waitin'. Not dyin'. Yet.
Where: Outside the high school.
When: After school Friday.
Rating: Come on, it's Penny...
Penny had taken refuge from the cold on a bus bench just outside the school. Sure it wasn't much, but at least the Plexiglas was enough to keep out the snow and most of the wind. It was just like her to forget to tell one of her parents to pick her up earlier than normal today. There weren't any meetings she had to go to, and despite how much she loved the newspaper, not even the thought of seeing Bast was enough to get her to head on over there in this weather. Besides, knowing him, he was probably out on assignment... getting into trouble with his powers as usual.
Penny grinned as her thumb skimmed over the songs on her iPod. Once it landed on a song she liked, she set it to idle and just admired her background picture. It was the picture placed next to every one of Bast's stories, the generic "This is my journalism face" picture that every reporter had to take for the newspaper. Penny had managed to download it onto her iPod, and it was on cold, gloomy days like today that looking at it made her feel just a tiny bit warmer.
That is... until another gust of wind blew her way, and she shivered in her seat. Her eyes darted back and forth down the road in hopes of seeing that familiar minivan her parents owned. Nothing. Penny sighed and wrapped her scarf tighter around her neck. She was getting a rash just from the material and having to always wear it now that the weather was even more threatening to her health. If only she'd gotten a ride home with Annie or something. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
