"Are you kidding me?" Rory rebutted, "People will think we're visionaries!" He flailed his arms in an expansive gesture. "We will be the crimefighting duo since Batman. And less violent and more educational, so we'll be better. Except at the actual crimefighting part." Rory clapped his hands at Eisen's name suggestions. "The Linguisticator! I like it." His mouth puckered a little in a pout. "Except now I'm stuck being 'The Englishman,' and that is way less badass than you. I'm just a British dude. And I'm not even British!" As was made painfully obvious by his atrocious accent.
"I implied nothing of the sort," Rory responded after he'd swallowed a mouthful of pizza. Rory didn't particularly care about Eisen's manners, but he tried to be attentive to his own, as they were one of the few things that he felt he could control. "You get to be all of those things too. Except wingman-ish, I think that's exclusively the sidekick thing. But you get bravery and leadership and all that jazz. That's cooler anyway." No one ever really wanted to be the sidekick, but Rory really didn't mind. He felt like he was better playing supporting roles in his friends' lives anyway. Rory was the type of person who, if he was making a movie about his life, would probably fail to cast himself as the main character. "But okay. If you really want to go by our Beiber scores we can be equals."
Rory listened, nodding quietly. Eisen had wanted to go there for ages; Rory could see it in his eyes any time they were together. It was almost tragic how they'd never really been able to make things work, especially since Rory's uncanny instincts told him that the crush was mutual. "Just be careful alright? I know you will be anyway. But..." he shook his head. "She's apparently on anonyblogger's naughty list and I'm sure said blogger will take any opportunity to tear her down, even if it's you." Rory’s feelings about Songbird were made painfully clear, first by his refusal to read her posts and second by the gossip-decrying post he’d made in his own journal after her last blast. From the looks of things she’d been quiet for a couple of months, however, so maybe she was finally gone for good.
