"Everyone needs imagery in their lives," Rory protested. "Besides, I double as a psychology major, so I can take what I learn about Jungian archetypes and apply them to literature and, conversely, I can take apply archetypal literary criticism to your dreams and unlock the innermost secrets of your soul." He wiggled his fingers at Eisen mystically. "You better be nice to me, dude. Or I'll do that." He snorted at Eisen's idea. "That might be pushing it a little. Are rocks even laden with dust? No. Maybe like... 'I am laden with work from finals week.'" He nodded to himself, then smirked. "You make it sound like we're crusaders of vocabulary. But we need something better than English lessoned. It's too clunky and not impressive-sounding enough. How about..." he tapped his chin. "Lexiconed. You've been lexiconed." A grin spread over his face as he tested out the term. "I like it."
"Glad you admit it, son," Rory returned, putting his hand down. "Dude, I don't know where you two got this notion that psychologist harvest brains, but that is so not what they do. Maybe zombie psychologists." He thought about it for a moment, then shook his head, rejecting the hypothesis. "But I bet the only reason they'd do that would be if there was a brain shortage or something and they had to save them for later."
Rory hadn't forgotten Eisen's passion for music; he just chose not to bring it up because it wouldn't have proven his point as well. Also, he was secretly hoping that enough subtextual references to Eisen's power would eventually lead him to want to talk about it (maybe not that night, but at least sometime) and to Rory, that goal was a little more important. "Yeah you did, bro." Rory informed him, grinning. "See? This is why I should be a lawyer."
"Exactly!" Rory enthused triumphantly. "It totally would be. The smell would kind of suck since so few people took regular baths in those days and we still wouldn't have internet and DVDs, but I dunno, man. I'd say the gentry had a pretty sweet deal. It would only really suck if we were in the poor classes."
