Lexie tried her best not to look at him, afraid to see the concern in his eyes. This was why she'd tried to avoid telling people that she was sick - she hated making people worry. Of course, some part of her knew that not telling them might just make them worry more, but she'd never been good at fighting her protection instinct. Besides, maybe she still had a chance at keeping this whole awful business a secret from the rest of the world.

"Ah!" Her arm spasmed with such force that she quickly used her other hand to pin it down, grimacing at the necessity. Clearly whatever Mr. Drake had done hadn't completely healed her twitch, at least not yet. And just like that, the spell was broken and she was thrown back into reality.
