Eisen’s eyes widened when Lexie explained what was really going on. He swallowed nervously and the concerned frown he’d been wearing deepened when she explained that she couldn’t even play her flute anymore. “Oh, Lex,” he said softly, standing up without hesitation and walking over to the side of her bed, leaning down to hug her gently. Very gently. It could barely be considered a hug, but he remembered her saying something about broken ribs and the last thing he wanted to do was hurt her any worse than she already was. The only thing Eisen hated more than having friends hurt and sick was not knowing what he could do to help.
He placed a gentle kiss on her cheek and smoothed his hand lightly through her hair. An innocent gesture, meant only as friendly…mostly. “You know that if you need anything you can just ask me, right? I know there’s not much I can do, but even if you just need me to come over here and keep you company? All you need is to call and ask me. I’ll be here in a heartbeat…” he told her earnestly.
“Okay, then I’m definitely not flattering…because I definitely mean every word.”
