Lexie couldn't help it. He was doing so many nice things for her that she couldn't help but want to return all the positive energy somehow. Besides, everything that she said was true, and she meant every word. She squeaked a little when he handed her the cupcake. "What other awesome things do you have in that magic bag of yours?" she asked as she peeled off the wrapper and did her best to catch the crumbs. "You wouldn't happen to have a magic, brain-fixing ray in there, would you?" It was a little ironic to be talking about that, since she technically already had one of those in the form of Francis, but of course, there was no guarantee that his healing would actually work, considering that he was having so much trouble getting through to her. Unfortunately, Lexie didn't even realize that she'd inadvertently given away another detail of her condition, one that probably wasn't going to make him less worried.
Except Cait, Lexie thought quietly. You sure smiled a lot around her. "You're flattering me," Lexie told him. "But thank you. I'm glad I can make you smile, too."
