"If you're going to put something ahead of everything else, I'd say food's a good place to start," Lexie agreed, giggling. "Food and rent, anyway." Her smile was bright as Eisen did his superhero impression. "Why thank you super-Eisen. I'll appreciate it forever."
Lexie hesitated a little when she heard Eisen's offer. It sounded good. Great, even. But studying alone, dinner... it was familiar, and the situation made her just a little tense. Still... Eisen wasn't the same as David, not by a longshot. She could trust him. Of course, that's what she'd thought about David, too. But then she looked down at the CD in her hand. Eisen was one of the most considerate people she knew. Of course she wouldn't have anything to fear from him. Besides, there was no way he liked her like that anyway. He'd dated Cait, after all, and Lexie was nothing like Cait. "Yes," she said, smiling although her tone still conveyed a hint of doubt. She managed to remove those traces the second time she said it though: "Yes. Let's do that. When I get out of here, that is."
She tilted her head a little. "But you have to promise me to let me do something for you too, okay? I'd feel bad letting you do all these nice things for me without letting me do something back. So you think about that, all right?" She smiled quietly to herself as Eisen talked about the little details he liked to memorize. Cait clearly didn't know how lucky she'd been.
