The lasagna was good. Really good. It was actually kind of difficult for Lexie not to start wolfing it down, but she kept herself in check. She wanted Eisen to think she was neat, after all. And she was. Mostly.
"This is really, really good, Eisen," she told him after a few more mouthfuls. Lexie had never been one to withhold a compliment. She gave them freely - if she liked something, she made it a point to tell the person. Maybe it meant that her praise was worth less because it was so liberally given, but she preferred not to think of it that way. She saw only the smiles that her earnest compliments put on the faces of others, and to her that was all that mattered. "Did you make it yourself?" It had come in tupperware, so it looked like that might be the case.
Lexie giggled. "I still think you're spoiling me," she said firmly. "Birthday or no birthday." She would've said "hospital or no hospital," but thinking of that idea pained her a little. Then she looked over at her laptop and pointed to it. "Surfing the internet. It's kind of weird - I don't usually have time for things like that when I'm at school. I've been pleading with my parents to get me my music theory books so I can study for my theory III exam, but they won't let me exert myself that much," she rolled her eyes. "They keep saying I need to relax."
