It was obvious that Katie was avoiding James. Not even just him, though. The entire family. Despite her parents frequent non-presence in her life, it was still very easy to tell when something was bothering her. For starters, the girl was hardly ever quiet, and here she was not speaking for days. She was also very against sitting in one place for too long. Katie had been on the couch since she'd gotten up Sunday morning. She wasn't sure how much time had passed. She didn't really care. There was only one thing on her mind.
Calvin. Or the lack thereof.
What had she done to him to make him doubt her so much? She'd never so much as batted an eyelash at another boy, let alone let them hug her. James and Mao didn't count, obviously, and there literally wasn't anyone else. She sighed loudly-- something she'd been doing often-- and laid down, her head resting on one end, her feet up on the arm. She was just about to get into the specifics of exactly what happened Friday night when she heard a sound. Someone was coming in the house. Someone who looked exactly like her brother.
Should she go upstairs and shut her door? No. Katie didn't have the energy. James was bound to find out, anyways, if he didn't already. No. She just laid there staring at the ceiling.
