Arthur may very well be more forthcoming with Emma, which made Francis' jaw tighten to think about. It reminded him of his place within the whole project: in limbo between the scientists and the other experiments. He had access to more information than the normal resident, but not nearly as much as the scientists; not nearly enough to satisfy him.
Francis watched Jacob walk off, and he allowed Emma to pass him into Alexandria's room, but he didn't follow her in. Instead, he stood by the door and frowned at the scene he saw inside, wondering what his own parents would do if that was him in the bed. Probably the same thing.
When Jacob came back to the room, Francis straightened up and moved out of the doorway, offering the man a parting glance before he turned down the hall and walked off. He had plans to come back, but for now Alexandria's parents should have a little time with her alone.
