There were a few things in the world that Mallorie Swafford was positive about. First was that even though she was a girl, girls as a gender were horridly confusing. Second was that hockey was, hands down, the best sport anyone could ever play. Third, and probably most of all, she had absolutely bombed that macro exam. Heaving an aggravated sigh and already racking her brain for exactly what she could do as make up work – if her professor would even let her – she headed toward the student center to study some for her public finance exam. As someone who had failed math three of four years in high school, she was certainly not looking forward to it.
“I don’t even keep track of my own bank account and I’m supposed to be able to keep track of the finances of the public? Right.” She rolled her eyes and stopped, adjusting her laptop bag on her shoulder.
Really, finals week was something that she’d been dreading for…well, since midterms week. At least, she decided, it was good to know that she hadn’t let herself down by anticipating that it would be a complete, unmitigated disaster. Should’ve majored in something fun. Sociology or psychology. Maybe then I could keep brains in a jar someday.
At least the thought of that conversation brought a smile to her face as she looked down at her feet and continued toward the student center.
