There was no way around it. He was going to fail his Bio final and that was all there was to it. It had occurred to him that at least attempting to study would help, but it really wasn't helping. He'd been staring down the pages of his bio textbook for several hours, and still little to nothing really got retained. It all just seemed like useless information to him anyway. When was he ever going to have to know how much ATP was produced during photosynthesis? Or how to properly do classifications of species and stuff. He wasn't going to be a biologist. Really, he was only taking the class to fulfill the requirement for the college. If it hadn't been on the list of required courses to graduate, there would have been no chance in Hell that he would have been in the class at the first place.
But no...it had been a necessary evil. It was there in his schedule and it was winding to a close...with the final as the last hurdle to jump. He'd been able to manage a high C average in the class thus far, but he just felt like the final was going to totally ruin him. And the chances of that actually happening were really high. Ed knew that he would have help to study. Rory and Gio had already offered their assistance. But somehow he couldn't help but think that all the help in the world wasn't going to really make things better.
Sitting around in the library really was starting to feel like a total waste of time. And so, Ed shut his textbook and put it back in his backpack. The backpack was slung over his shoulder and he got up to leave the library. And that was when he spotted Aren. She was sitting by herself, earbuds in, textbook open. And she was tapping her pencil along with the beat of whatever it was she was listening to, probably. Somehow, Ed couldn't stop himself from going over to her table and sitting down across from her.
He thought that sitting right across from her would get her attention, and so he smiled and gave a simple greeting. "Hey."
