Who: Laney and Carter What: questions Where: Carter's house When: today after school
Laney tossed on her coat and grabbed her house keys. She hardly even had a sleeve on when she was out the door. Honestly, she'd been waiting to leave ever since her father came home early for work. She hated those days. He usually sat around watching her, giving her 'constructive criticism' about her life. She wasn't into it. It was especially unbearable when her mother was still at school. Laney just couldn't take it. She didn't even tell him she was leaving.
It took her only five minutes to get to Carter's. She was practically running. Her track team practices were helping her with her speed. She was never the fastest runner in middle school, but she was improving rapidly now. She would likely get to do a worthwhile event in the next meet. She would never admit it to anyone except maybe Alfie, but she was really excited.
"Carter?" She pushed the door bell and waited on his porch. He was expecting her, so she figured there was no need for her to be impatient. Still. It was fucking cold outside.
