Francis was silent while Dietre spoke. There was so much he could say; things that might make the kid think twice about calling himself crazy, or things that might ease his mind. In the grand scheme of things, Francis was aware he knew very little, but compared to Dietre he knew more than enough to get by feeling informed.
"I know a thing or two about patching people up," Francis said, not answering Dietre's question directly right away. He looked away from the teen, going back to concentrating on getting the pot set up for soup. After bringing it back to the stove, Francis began to slice the blanched pumpkins into manageable pieces so he could skin them.
"I also think I can help ground you. If you have something outside of yourself to focus on, it might help keep you distanced from the scarier parts of your … power." The last word was said with hesitation, after a moment's thought. Francis didn't want to be too revealing, but he figured the kid wouldn't know the difference, and he might as well make it sound positive. He was already being too accepting of the supernatural, but Francis wasn't an actor and didn't want to waste his time, even though he knew if he hadn't heard of the project and powers were actually out of the ordinary for him, he definitely wouldn't be taking it all in so calmly so quickly.
"So, yeah, I think I can help you." Francis grabbed an extra knife and held it out to Dietre handle first, then nodded his head at the pumpkin slices.
"They're a little hot, but the skin'll come off easy now," he said.
