It didn't really seem like she would win this argument. There were only so many times that she could make her point. So she just nodded and didn't say anything. She understood Emily's point of view, of course. But even so, there was still the chance that things would change. There was always that chance, no matter what you were talking about. It was just your belief of that chance that came into question.
She still thought that the whole plant thing was weird. It wasn't always pretty like this. Actually, it was a lot easier to make the plants volatile than it was to make them docile. Both ways required concentration, but somehow it was always easier to grow them out of control. "It's still not normal. And I guess it can be wonderful, but there's been times when it's been really scary and freaky too."
Leti ran a hand through her hair. "It helps me concentrate when I sing, so it makes controlling it easier. But...it's harder to get them to stay like this instead of growing out of control. Like...let me show you." She thought for another minute, trying to think of another song. Something louder and more angry. The first thing that came to mind was Scared by Three Day's Grace, but only because she heard the music starting to play inside the store. That wouldn't be too bad as compared to other things, but still bad enough. "Just...watch."
"At night I hear it creeping At night I feel it move I’ll never sleep here anymore
I wish you never told me I wish I never knew I wake up screaming It’s all because of you
So real these voices in my head When it comes back you won’t be Scared and lonely You won’t be scared, you won’t be You won’t be scared and lonely You won’t be scared you won’t be lonely..."
Her singing was louder, more angry, like the genre of the song. And because of that, her concentration reacted in the same way, causing the plants to change. The stems grew thicker with more and more shoots branching off. The wildflowers fell, petal by petal, to the ground. Thorns took their place. As she kept singing, the plants grew more and more dangerous looking, and she knew that if she wanted them to be, there would be a way to make them "violent," so to speak. She stopped singing after repeating the chorus again, keeping the thorny vines just short of beginning to coil around Emily's legs.
"...see? It's not always sunshine and rainbows. I did that to the side of my parents house once. Almost broke Izzy's old bedroom window."
