Emily's smile brightened when Leti said she had a long list of suggestions. Her excitement about maybe being noticed covered up her underlying mantra of 'nothing can ever happen.' She laughed as Leti said her hair looked like a piece of bubblegum, "Maybe you should have kept it, that could have been your gimmick, 'Bubbleyum Leti.'" Emily shrugged at Leti's comment about why boys were obsessed with Lexie, "Well she's beautiful and I promised myself I wouldn't point this out anymore, but she's blonde. That's why I went blonde that one time, it looked like all the girls who had someone was blonde so I thought that would solve all my problems...yeah no. Although," she paused, "that was how I first met Jacen..." Emily looked at Leti shocked as she said risk herself, "I mean everyone else Leti...it's hard to explain...I...I can...I have this skill...that's dangerous and...it's connected...to my emotions. So I have to be careful. My last heartbreak...caused something bad to happen and I can't let that happen again." Her heart beat fast at her comment that good things come with risk. Calvin had said the same thing before. Two people with the same advice usually meant it was good advice. Could she really risk it? Should she? Could she be sure that she would be able to control her emotions enough to be with someone.
At Leti's comment about hanging out, "Yeah, I'd love that we can do that and also maybe work on some of my poems. I really want to get a start on that. After Halloween I'm pretty free...well except for school naturally."
