Sorry this took me so long!
Calvin was usually all about school, but English was just... a whole different world for him. Math and science? Those were subjects he could really sink his teeth (or... in this case his brain) into. English, not so much. He just didn't see the point about talking about symbolism and metaphor and all those other things that couldn't be conclusively proven; it was all too vague and wishy-washy. Especially fluffy stuff like Jane Austen. And hey, at least there was something he could relate to in his still-slightly-awkward conversation with Mia.
He figured that Mia would get more out of the store than he would, since it looked like a gift shop and honestly, there wasn't a whole lot of stuff in here that Calvin would buy. Except maybe for his sister. Maybe. He wrinkled his nose as the powerful scent of the incense tickled his nostrils and he quickly replaced the stick before it made him sneeze.
"Cinnamon," he told Mia. He glanced around. "See anything you like?" His tone sounded doubtful, although he didn't really mean to be judgmental of the stuff in the store.
