As frustrating and awful as his precognition was, Calvin's power was handy sometimes. He was getting a little better at pinpointing when things might possibly happen. He never had this luxury with the big, terrifying things, of course, but the smaller things - like the fact that it would rain today - those were the things he was beginning to get a handle on, and the thunderclaps Calvin had heard as he left the house that morning had been a pretty clear tip-off.
He was walking home from the library when the drizzle finally began to sprinkle down from the clouds, and he quickly opened his umbrella, sure that the storm would get worse. In the back of his mind, Calvin wondered if Emily might have something to do with the sudden change in the weather. Resolving to call her later to make sure she was okay, Calvin continued down the sidewalk, the rain bouncing rhythmically from his little shield as he went. Turning a corner, Calvin noticed Mia a few yards ahead of him and hurried to catch up.
"Hey," he said quietly, drawing up beside her and smiling a little. "Need an umbrella?" He tipped his in her direction so she would be covered from the rain.
