'Cady, Had to run out the door, can you run to the store please? Attached is the list and money. Love, Mom.'
A note magnetted to the fridge with a list and a 50 dollar bill set Cady on her errands today. Butter, milk, eggs, bread, hamburger...all simple enough things, and Cady had gone shopping with her mother more than enough times to know what it was she wanted her to get. She ate a pop-tart before she left, though, so she wouldn't be tempted to buy everything that looked tasty (ie, covered in chocolate or sugary sweet...yum) while she was wandering down the aisles.
She navigated her way through the aisles, and was in and out in less than 20 minutes. She placed the paper bags back in the grocery cart and began to wheel out the door, her mind wandering..
A vision flashed across her mind's eye, a girl with grocery bags in her arms, losing her balance, the bags toppling from her arms. Snapping back to alertness, she saw the back of a girl a couple paces away, trying to catch the falling bags and failing. Leaving her cart, she rushed up to the struggling girl, attempting to catch the bags. One toppled out of her grasp, but Cady managed to catch another two.
