Ben laughed, perhaps a bit harder than he should have, tried to wipe the triumphant look from his face. It was always a good day when he could scare the shit out of one of his siblings. (Preferably Mia, but Grace would do.) At her first question, he put on a look of wounded pride and dramatically placed a hand over his heart.
"What kind of student do you take me for?" He sniffed. "I was absolutely silent during all of my classes today." He paused. "I slept through them." He made a let's get going gesture with his arms and glanced back at the school, half wary that an angry teacher or god forbid, Alex, was going to come rushing out of the building. "It's in my locker. With my homework. It's not as fashionable as yours and felt too ashamed to be seen with you." In truth, Ben's jacket was a busted old leather thing that he had found in the basement and rescued from a colony of spiders. He always assumed that it had belonged to their father, but Ben had never explicitly asked nor had the man ever said anything.
