Mia didn’t think anything of it when she heard the crunch of dead leaves underfoot. She wasn’t the only one who was heading into town on foot after all. Needless to say she jumped nearly a foot in the air as a result. Whirling she glared at her brother, “Jesus Ben!” In retaliation Mia gave him a slight shove and then righted her bag on her shoulder.
“So, what trouble did you cause today?” She asked genuinely curious with a tilt of her head noticing that he was missing his jacket. One of them had to at least appear like a good student so Mia tended to live somewhat vicariously through her brothers antics. Not that it stopped Mia from causing some trouble of her own on occasion but her trouble was a very different and definitely more subtle kind. “And where’s your jacket,” she asked.
