Francis' jaw slackened about halfway through Arthur's explanation of what it was he was required to do. He could have been obnoxious (more than half of him wanted to be) and said what?, then let Arthur say it all again, but Francis knew exactly what was going on.
He was a healer, but he didn't like keeping houseplants alive, let alone an eighteen-year-old with recently deceased parents. He could only guess no one else who had a choice wanted to deal with Abendroth full time.
"Is he really that bad?" Francis decided to ask, keeping his cool, but his voice had an edge to it. When he'd been wishing he had more involvement in the goings on of the island, this was not what he was hoping for.
