Who: Calvin and Katie What: Rock climbing! (Like their first date. Awww) When: Monday evening Where: Elwood Rocks Rating: Probably lowish Status: Incomplete
Calvin couldn't help but fidget a little as he walked the floor at Elwood Rocks in his belaying uniform. He couldn't deny that he'd missed belaying, but ever since the vision-induced episode that had happened over the summer, he'd been doing all he could to avoid the floor. No incidents had happened yet, and although he'd been having vision-dreams almost every night, he was content that at least his weird ability didn't seem to be interfering with his waking life very much. In his dreams, the events had become blissfully mundane: Cady's books toppling off of her desk, Emily's new puppy, Katie smiling as she aced a chemistry test, Jacen beating his newest video game... everything was blessedly unremarkable. Well. Almost everything. He could never remember the darker visions that he knew kept him awake at night, given the amount of times he'd woken in a cold sweat, but memories of something sinister always lingered at the edge of his consciousness.
Either way, he hoped that his earlier vision attack had just been a byproduct of his trying to resist his... whatever it was. It sure a heck wasn't a gift. Fortunately, though, his sister had been successful in convincing him that fighting it was only making it worse, so he often employed the relaxation and meditation exercises she’d taught him, which did seem to help. It wasn’t the most flawless system, having all his daytime visions siphon into his dreams, but Calvin could deal with a few less hours of sleep. As long as he could still function during the day, he was happy.
Sighing lightly, he leaned against a wall and looked around for potential customers. It was a slow evening at Elwood, and he only had an hour until his shift was over. Maybe he’d get lucky and he wouldn’t have to belay anyone at all tonight.
