Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:macy jones, noah riley, noelle baines, september 2010

Who: Macy, Lexie, Natalie, Noah, Cait, Noelle, ALfie and Annie (and anyone else who Lexie or Macy might invite, feel free to jump in cause I'm POSITIVE I'm forgetting more than one or two people)
What: HOUSEWARMING
Where: Macy and Lexie's new apartment
When: sometime this week? I'll figure out the exact date and change it. Pretend invites went out.
Rated: whatever

The food had been laid out, the house cleaned impeccably and the cat groomed. There wasn't a single thing out of place, and everything smelled like Pine Sol. A few more people had shown up than they were planning on but that was fine. Macy hated to leave anyone out, and she was sure that Lexie felt the same way. She was just glad to be chatting with all of her friends at once and laughing instead of stressing over one thing or another. Her family was gone, sure, but the people she was surrounded by now was all the family that she needed.

Macy smiled and moved to the kitchen, grabbing a tray of finger food and bringing it into the living room. She placed it on the coffee table and sat down on the couch. She was having such a lovely time.

Lexie had always enjoyed playing the hostess at these sort of functions, and she and Macy played very well off of one another. No one ever looked like they needed a drink or a snack since both of them were always on top of things. She shot a grateful smile at her friend as she crossed the room to nibble at a snack. While she was temporarily disengaged from conversation, she looked around the room at her friends, watching them to make sure they were having a good time.

They couldn't stay on her friends forever, though - unfortunately they fell on Noah all too quickly. Her gaze had been shifting in his direction all night. He was like a wasp: she didn't like having him where she couldn't see him. And she certainly didn't like the way he was chatting up Macy. Given the argument the two roommates had had about him earlier, Lexie was really trying to be civil, but she'd found that it had been much harder to be civil this month than it normally was. She had no idea why either - it was like she'd been in a constant state of very bad PMS, complete with cramping, mood swings and ferocious irritability, for over a month now. She wasn't too concerned about it when David was on the receiving end of her wrath - he deserved all he got - but now that it was spilling over to other people (even if it was Evan and Noah), Lexie knew it was about time to check herself. What in the world was going on with her anyway?

Sitting down on the couch, Lexie curled up a little. Hopefully everything would all work out soon. Very soon. She really didn't like the person she was becoming.

It was never a good sign when one of the hostesses of the party you were attending was curled up alone on a couch, not looking particularly happy to be there. Noelle's nosiness was getting the best of her. She grabbed two champagne flutes and a plate full of treats and made her way to the couch.

"This is a really great place you two have." She grinned, taking a seat and handing Lexie the other glass of champagne. Obviously the other girl hadn't asked for anything, and Noelle hadn't asked if she could sit down, but that was simply Noelle's way of doing things. Besides, Lexie looked like she could use a glass of champagne. If not for the alcohol, at least for the bubbles. They had a habit of making sad people cheerful. She took a sip from her own cup and took a bite of a cookie, "Hungry?"

Lexie closed her phone and looked up at Noelle, a hint of distraction still lingering in her eyes. She managed a smile, though, and she gratefully accepted the champagne. Noelle had had the right instinct: she did need it. And judging by the uncharacteristically large gulps she was taking, Lexie wasn't just in it for the bubbles.

"Thanks," she said. "And I know! Isn't it great? I'm so glad we found it. Macy really has a good eye for these kinds of things." She took a cookie from the plate and looked at it for a few seconds before breaking off a little piece and beginning to chew. She wanted to be a good hostess, but the combination of Noah's presence and David's assholery were not adding up to a very good night for the eldest Tibbits' child.

Noelle had a good eye for people having problems. Under her bitchy exterior, she really did care. "Looks like we're going to need to get you some more champagne." She noted, wide eyed as Lexie gulped hers down. She ignored the pleasantries of talking about the apartment. Sure she'd started the conversation, but Noelle didn't like small talk. Not when there was something obviously much more pressing at hand.

"Mhmm... Yes. Very nice." She nodded, "You really took out that champagne. Anything bothering you?"

"Yeah..." Lexie said absently. She wasn't really the type to drown her problems in alcohol, but given the conversation she'd just had with David, she almost wanted another glass of champagne just to prove a she could. She shook her head a little, trying valiantly not to burden someone else with her problems. It was stupid and petty anyway. She really shouldn't be thinking about it. What the hell did David know? He was just an idiot.

"It's nothing important," she told Noelle, trying to sound firm. "Just... stupid boys and their stupid petty bullshit." She brought a hand to her mouth. "Sorry. I don't usually... curse like that." She thought about what she'd just said and winced. Oh God. Maybe she was stuck-up.

While there were certainly many positives to Macy moving into her own place, there was also one big, fat negative. Macy's room mate, Lexie, did not like him for reasons he couldn't understand. Sure, she could dislike him for their relationship ending badly, but even when things had been good, that blonde had been glaring at him from across the room like he had wife beater stamped across his forehead.

That room mate, obviously, was going to be at their housewarming party this evening. Still, he was sure he could distract himself from that fact if he stayed on the opposite side of the room. Hopefully.

With a good bottle of wine under his arm, Noah knocked at the new apartment, eyeing it curiously as he waited for someone to answer.

Of course, Macy answered. He was the last one to arrive, and therefore she knew it was him. Lexie hadn't been happy that he was invited, so Macy thought it'd be a good idea to keep him as far away from her as possible.

"Hey," she said, when she opened the door. "Glad you came." She leaned forward to give him a hug and plant a gentle kiss on his cheek. Things were still awkward between them, but Macy was willing to try and work things out.
